The Racer X Fabrication Short Throw Shifter for the 1991-1995 Toyota MR2 is designed to significantly reduce shifter travel without replacing or modifying the interior shifter assembly. By changing the shift geometry directly at the transmission linkage, our design reduces shifter throw by approximately 40%, resulting in shorter, quicker movements between gears while retaining the factory shifter inside the vehicle.

Installation is performed entirely at the transmission linkage, making this an ideal solution for owners who want the benefits of a short throw shifter while maintaining the factory shifter location and interior appearance.

Because reducing throw also reduces mechanical leverage, the Short Throw Shifter will naturally increase the amount of force required at the shift knob. For drivers who prefer a lighter shift feel, an optional Shifter Deadweight is available. The additional mass helps carry momentum through the shift, reducing the effort felt at the shift knob while retaining the reduction in throw.

Finished product will be anodized black.

Note: Short-throw shifters come with a trade-off — reducing shifter movement increases shifting force. Higher reduction settings will result in a more mechanical or notchy feel. Solid shifter bushings will further amplify this effect. For best results, we recommend Racer X spherical bearing shifter bushings, as they allow for slight cable articulation and help maintain smooth operation.
