The Racer X Fabrication 1ZZ coil on plug kit for the 1991-1995 Toyota MR2 will eliminate high RPM ignition drift, which can be as much as 5 to 10 degrees above 6000 RPM. This kit will allow you to run optimal timing without worry about your timing belt stretching and giving erratic readings to the OEM distributor. The 1ZZ coils also eliminate the need to change your spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor every 3000 miles.
The crank trigger kit starts with a 12 tooth 430 stainless steel trigger wheel that is cut through CNC process then mounted to our CNC machined crank trigger adapter for an exact fit and machined to match the adapter. The CNC machined trigger wheel adapter is mounted to the OEM crank pulley using stainless steel hardware. The crank trigger sensor is mounted to the engine block through 2 mounting points and utilizes a CNC machined bracket to house the cherry hall sensor that comes standard with the kit. To mount the 1ZZ coils we CNC machine an adapter bracket that will directly bolt on to the Gen 2 and Gen 3 engine valve cover. The coils are then directly mounted to the adapter plate and sit flush to the valve cover.
The cam trigger portion is the final component and allows you to eliminate the OEM distributor completely. This allows your engine management system to run full sequential ignition and fuel. The cam trigger wheel utilizes a CNC machined adapter that keys to the intake cam of the 3SGTE engine. The cam wheel rotates from the keyed adapter through (2) sealed bearings rated to 20,000 RPM. The shaft uses o-ring seals and to prevent any oil leaks and retaining rings to prevent the shaft from walking. Finally the cam wheel is inside our CNC machined cover plate that also is threaded for a cherry hall sensor.

If you are using the OEM intake manifold the coil adapter plate will require modification on coil #2 to clear the throttle body inlet.
